Dnes si vysvetlíme, ako má správne fungovať jednosmerný ventil na vašom motore. Na správnu funkciu má vplyv aj drobná a v podstate nenápadná súčiastka, ľudovo nazývaná "odfuk". Je to vlastne jednosmerný ventil, ktorý zabezpečuje odvádzania prebytočného tlaku vzduchu z motora, pri pohybe piestu smerom na dol. Ak by sme tento tlak neodvádzali, motor by sa pasoval so silou, ktorá pôsobí oproti sile zo spaľovacej komory.

Today we are going to explain how the one-way PCV valve should function on your engine. A „blow-by“ how it is commonly called is a small device which has an effect on the proper engine function. It is a one-way valve manages venting of the excess air pressure and fumes from the engine when the piston goes down. If the pressure would not be vented out of the crankcase, the engine would have to put up with the pressure acts towards the power from the combustion chamber.

Zanedbanie funkčnosti tohto ventilu má významný vplyv na výkon motora a veľmi často sa táto porucha prejaví, akoby netesnosťou karterov motora. Na motore Ariel sa nachádza niekoľko takýchto ventilov rôznych tvarov. Všetky však pracujú na rovnakom princípe. Pevné telo ventilu je upravené tak, aby sa v ňom mohla voľne pohybovať guľôčka ktorá je zaistená v jednej časti rozdeleným rozperným krúžkom . Odvádzacia rúrka s maticou zaistí, že sa rozperný krúžok neuvoľní z tela ventilu a drážka v krúžku umožní prebytočnému vzduchu pohyb smerom von z motora. Pri spätnom chode piestu nastane v motore podtlak, ktorý nasaje guľôčku späť do tela ventilu a zamedzí tak nežiadúcemu vstupu vody a iných nečistôt do kľukovej skrine. 

When the maintenance of PCV valve is neglected, it has a great impact on the engine output and many times the faulty valve causes crankcase covers to leak. There are several of these valves of different shapes on Ariel engines. But all of them work on the same principle. The body of the valve is arranged in a way so the small ball can move inside and is secured by a circlip on one side. The outlet tube with a nut ensures that the circlip does not disengage from the valve body and the groove in the circlip lets the excess air move out of the engine. When the piston moves up it creates vacuum which pulls the ball into the valve body and stops the dirt or water from entering the crankcase.

Táto drobná súčiastka má práve preto významný vplyv na životnosť motora . Hlavne, ak je stroj používaný v horších poveternostných podmienkach. Odvádzacie rúrky plnia funkciu mazania primárnej aj sekundárnej reťaze. Preto sa  dostávajú do styku s vodou čiapajúcou od kolies. Často sa stretávame s tým , že aj keď je motor na prvý pohľad vybavený ventilmi , po ich  rozložení zistíme ich nefunkčnosť. Najčastejšou príčinou je oprava motora v minulosti. Ventil síce starí majstri ponechali pri opravách na svojom mieste, odvádzaciu rúrku však vždy odmontovali , aby nezavadzala. Pri prvom naštartovaní motora , prebytočný tlak uvoľnil rozperný krúžok s guľôčkou a aj keď potom rúrku namontovali naspäť, črevá ventilu už nikto nenašiel. U niektorých modelov sa  na prsiach rozvodu  nachádza ventil, ktorý používa namiesto guľôčky, kúsok plechu. Systém fungovania je však rovnaký.

Therefore this small device has a significant impact on engine´s lifespan. Especially when riding in bad weather conditions. The outlet tubes also work for lubrication of primary and secondary chain drive. That is why the get into a contact with water splashing from under the wheels. We often see that at the first sight the engines are equiped with PCV valves, but after a proper examination we find out that the valves are not working. The most common reason is that the engine had been „repaired“ in the past. PCV valve was not removed during these repairs but the outlet tube was moved out of the way for other procedures. After the first start the pressure released the circlip with a ball and when the mechanic put the outlet tube back in, the inner parts of the valve were nowhere to be found. On some models there is a valve mounted on the front side of the engine but instead of the ball a piece of sheet metal i sused. The system though functions the same way.
